Compilers that target fonts. Each demo is a plain text box in a compiled font: the fractions, the hidden Markdown markup and the colors are drawn by the font's rules. No script processes the text, and the characters stay exactly as typed.
Type (a+b)/(c+d) into a plain text box and the font draws a fraction. x^2 gets a superscript and sqrt(x^2+1) a root, while and/or, w/o and dates stay text. Copy a fraction and you get (a+b)/(c+d) back.

Fractions, square roots, superscripts and subscripts, nested 3 deep: not LaTeX, and not a general math engine. Checked in Chrome, Firefox and Safari, on macOS, Linux and Windows.
Math as people type it in plain text, (a+b)/(c+d) and x^2, typeset; and/or and dates left alone.
GitHub Flavored Markdown rendered line by line, markup hidden, monospaced or proportional.
Syntax highlighting by a lexer that runs in the shaper, and a bar past column 79.
A little LaTeX typeset as you type: fractions, roots, scripts and symbols.
The same lexer compiler, from a JavaScript lexer spec.
Fonts that mark how words are said or what gender a noun is. The fonts do exactly what their word lists say, in HarfBuzz and Core Text; how right the lists are is measured separately, below. They also come as a browser extension for any web page.
